In this gallery you can find pics of birds (ranging from common to very rare) that I've photographed in the Netherlands, excluding my localpatch Overijssel.

Here you can find pictures of (locally) scarce to rare birds that I've photographed in the province of Overijssel, in the east of the Netherlands.

Not only birds are fun also all other creatures that I encounter when I'm in the field, such as butterflies!

In january 2009 a group of 18 birdwatchers from Holland and Belgium were invited by the Department of Environment (DoE) of Iran to help them with the annual waterbirdcount. Iran is rich in wetlands and therefore huge numbers of waterbirds winter there. Edwin Winkel and I counted the wetlands in the Golestan province in northeastern Iran. We also visited the Golestan National Park. The beautiful countryside, the birds and the hospitality of the Iranians did make it a very special trip.

Here are some pictures from our recent birdingtrip to southern Ontario (Canada) and Michigan (U.S.A.). Areas visited included Point Pelee, Rondeau, Niagara Falls, Long Point, Carden Plain, Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario and Tawas Point and Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan.
It was a very succesful holiday with many warbler species, woodpeckers and many more species seen in a relaxing pace. I highly recommend it!

Some pictures of our trip to the far east of Russia in june 2007. It was a fabulous experience to be in southern Siberia around Lake Baikal! Beautiful landscapes, nature and of course....birds!

Here you can find pics of our birdingtrip to the norhern part of Egypt in the early spring of 2007. We have travelled around the Sinai-peninsula and the Nile-delta. Especially in spring the birdmigration is fabulous over this region. A great country (to watch birds in) with great people (never a dull moment!).
