| In january 2009 a group of 18 birdwatchers from Holland and Belgium were invited by the Department of Environment (DoE) of Iran to help them with the annual waterbirdcount. Iran is rich in wetlands and therefore huge numbers of waterbirds winter there. Edwin Winkel and I counted the wetlands in the Golestan province in northeastern Iran. We also visited the Golestan National Park. The beautiful countryside, the birds and the hospitality of the Iranians did make it a very special trip. |
